Marvin Sonsona will Take a break for a while

Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona will rest for a while after his bad faith in his bout with undefeated Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. He experience his first lost this time. Will he back again in the ring ans be marvelous again? There's a lot of question right now after his not good draw fight with Alejandro Payasito and loss to Vazquez.

Sonsona, the named as the next Pacquiao will take a break for a while in the boxing ring and regain his prowess in boxing. He will undergo through analysis on what is really the problem on his fights.

Sonsona's manager Dr. Rajan Yraola allowed Sonsona to take some rest for three to six months. Good Luck Marvin Sonsona. It's not bad to taste a lost but it's a mere great challenge to mature your self. Punch them again when you back again inside the ring.

The Double Assault PPV Boxing Results

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr defeated Marvin Sonsona for the WBO super bantamweight title. Sonsona was dropped by a body shot in the fourth round and was unable to beat the count. The KO improved Vazquez Jr’s record to 18-0-1 (15 KOs) and gave the 25 year-old his first world title.

Controversy surrounded the co-main event as the bout between Rodel Mayol and Omar Nino for the WBC light flyweight title was ruled a technical draw. Nino hit Mayol with a low blow in the third round. Before referee Vic Drakulich could intervene, Nino followed with a left hook that turned Mayol’s lights off. Mayol was out cold and the fight was ruled a technical draw.

Wilfredo Vazquez Knocks Out Marvin Sonsona

Wildredo Vazquez VictoryWilfredo Vazquez made a history after knocking out Marvin "Marvelous" Sonsona in the 4th round of their clash on February 27, 2010 to hold the WBO super bantamweight title. He aimed to be part of father and son champion and he got it.

Vazquez showed the thousand of viewers in his home town how he managed Sonsona attacks. He jabbed and avoided most of Sonsona’s single shots in the first and both fighters landed their respective straights but neither scored with any significant punches. Vazquez landed a counter right hand off the ropes in the second that appeared to cut Sonona under his left eye and ended the round landing several jabs and powerful right hands. Sonsona seemed distraught by the end of the round. In the third, Sonsona landed a straight left that gave him some confidence as he let his hands go a little more. Still, the Puerto Rican managed to work the body and land rights of his own on the now swelling eye of Sonsona.

Vázquez went after his man in the fourth and pinned him several times against the ropes using his jab and straight right hand until one of those right hands broke through Sonsona’s defense and hurt him. A follow up left hook to the body put Sonsona down for the full count.

Rodel Mayol vs Omar 'Nino' Romero WBC Light Flyweight Championship

Rodel Mayol vs Omar RomeroThe Double Assault pay per view boxing event also features the WBC Light Flyweight championship of Rodel Mayol vs Omar 'Nino' Romero in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The Mandaue City-based fighter won his first world title on his fifth attempt, stopping Mexico’s Edgar Sosa in two rounds last November.

Rodel "Batang Mandaue" Mayol is 26-4 with 20 KOs and all his losses came in world title bouts. The 33-year-old Omar "Nino" Romero is 28-3-1 with 11 KOs.

Will Sonsona be "Marvelous" again?

“His destiny will be known here and only God knows what will happen come Feb. 27, the BIG DAY.” - Promoter Sammy Gello-ani ended his e-mail update regarding Marvin Sonsona's arrival in Puerto Rico with this statement.
Marvin Sonsona, 19 year old from General Santos showed the world his destiny as a fighter when he dethroned Puerto Rican, Jose "Carita" Lopez on a 12-round unanimous decision where he won the WB0 Super-flyweight world title and named as the 2nd young world title champion. But, challenges comes to every boxer when he vacated his belt on scale on his 1st title defense against challenger Alenjadro Hernandez. Sport writers, fans and even ordinary person asked if he will be also like a wasted boxer later on?

Sonsona faced another chance on a championship, shifting from 115lbs. to 122lbs for the vacant WBO Junior Featherweight title against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr of Peuerto Rico. Sonsona (14W-0L-1D, 12 KO’s) and Vasquez,Jr. (17 W (KO 14) – L 0- D 1) will rumble in the Ruben Rodriguez Stadium in Bayamon on February 27 in a clash dubbed as “Making History”.

Vazquez Jr. is a tough opponent with power and good combination of punches. Although, Gello-ani, Sonsona promoter expressed that Vazquez is undefeated but he never faced a fighter like Sonsona.
